About Our Horses

HONEY
About Honey When we saw this horse, we knew we had to do something about her. The people did not want to give her up, so we bought her for $400.00. We were afraid if we waited until the animal control people could get around to her she would be dead. Here she is 2 years later. What a beauty. She sadly passed on from West Nile and yes, she was vaccinated as was our stallion who also passed that year.
LADY GWENIVIER
About Lady Gwenivier This is lady Gwenivier. I was called by animal control, but no one could be ready for what we found. A mare so weak from starvation that she could not get up after giving birth. We had to make a sling to get her in the trailer. Please look at the pic of her foot all four were like this. It was 28 days before she was strong enough to stand for the first time to feed her baby. After she got that far we dug a horseshoe shape pond for her to go into and soak her feet in the mud ( the water took the weight off her feet). The hardest thing was to get her out of the pond. It took the fever out of her feet and legs. After only a year and a half she was ready to be placed, and we found her a great home where all she did was play with kids. Her son Folgers( yes after the coffee) was placed also with a family that does hunter jumper and has done wonderful.
SHAMROCK
About Shamrock This is Shamrock we call her that because she has the luck with her. We were again called by animal control they had picked up this horse and after 6 weeks could not put a ounce of weight on her. They were afraid she would die. Nobody would take her because she had a "mean streak in her a mile long". Here she is after only 6 weeks with us. This was three years ago. We have now got her to respect and even like us a little and she is now in training. I don't know if she will ever be adopted out as she is a lady with a mind of her own and does not take well to strangers.
WOUNDED KNEE
About Wounded Knee This is Wounded Knee, She was at one time a champion show horse. then one day she stepped on her trainers foot he grabbed a board and hit her so hard in the knee he broke it. So they turned her out in a dry baren field to die when she didn't they shot her( you can see the bullet mark on her face right by the corner of her mouth). That is when we got involved. It took four years to rehab her but as you can see in her after pic she is now a wonderfully happy horse and a new mommy. She was placed in a wonderful home and will live out her days doing nothing but sunning and stealing apples.
WOBBLES
About Wobbles Ok so I know that bringing horses into the house to live is not for everyone. But if not this little one would have died. Wobbles lost his mother in birth the owner didn't know what to do so they call us. The baby was premature and it's leg muscles were not fully developed. so we went and got him and brought him home as as with a few other's he spent the first few weeks in the house (the kids kept it clean). We had to cast both front legs and bottal feed him. We had to "make" a brace for the one hind leg. The vet said he would never make it but after about 3 to 4 weeks he was strong enough to go into a padded stall. by the time he was 6 months old you would never have known he was a premie or that he ever had a problem. One of the pictures show him laying on the bed with his head resting on one of our "ranch rats" that is the nick name the kids that come here choose for themselves.
2ND HOUSE BABY
About Our 2nd House Baby This little ones mom was poisoned. He was only a few hours old when she died. Again the kids said we should take her in and they did mean "IN". This is three more of our ranch rats helping with a helpless baby. And because of their help here he is 3 weeks later sunbathing
GIRL W OUT A NAME
Drug By A Truck We never found out this poor girls name. We just cried when we saw her. Her owner got frustrated trying to brake her to lead and when she wouldn't, he tied her hind legs to his truck and drug her. Then had the nerve to come to us to get her fixed up. We, of course, fixed her up, took pictures, and put off the owner till animal control could get out there. He, by the way, came up missing, and all his horses were taken.
NILLIE
About Nillie This is Nillie, she is only 4 years old, starved and blind because of eye injuries. Here is Nillie 3 years later after alot of love and care, still blind but she knows the area and the lead mare up here takes good care of her.
